The INTP

敦RF2021-04-17As INTPs gain experience in a given career field, they become increasingly capable of functioning creatively within that field. Accrued knowledge and experience are precursors to vocational freedom, ingenuity, and innovation……Despite this, many individuals, especially idealistic N types (including INTPS), opt to ignore their current or past career course in favor of dreaming about more ideal alternatives. They fail to see that it is not necessarily the career that is most important, but the way they function with respect to that career. Given sufficient background knowledge, INTPs could feasibly apply their Ti and Ne to nearly anything.(他们没有意识到最重要的不一定是职业,而是他们在职业方面的运作方式。如果有足够的背景知识,INTP可以将其Ti和Ne应用于几乎任何事情。)

敦RF2021-04-17As an INTP, I certainly understand the desire to find the perfect self-career congruence. But having lived long enough to observe how individuals operate in their careers, it seems that taking the first step in a given vocational direction is more like beginning a journey than it is arriving at a final destination. Viewed this way, the first career step, while determining ones general direction(e.g, north, west, east, or south), is often far less restrictive or prescriptive than we might think.Furthermore, careers are often not what we imagine them to be. Again, this is largely due to the fact that we tend to imagine them in black-and-white, abstract terms. In my view, most career fields are broad enough to accommodate a breadth of personality types. There is no a priori reason to belie...

敦RF2021-04-17Without downplaying the perceived importance of well-informed career decision-making for INTPs, I am going to go out on a limb(孤注一掷)and suggest that their initial choice of career or college major may not be as critical or confining as they might imagine.

敦RF2021-04-17INTPs often need a great deal of time to explore and experiment with their interests before anything resembling a clear vocational vision begins to emerge. While geniuses like Einstein may discern their path rather quickly, for most INTPs, it can take years, even decades, before things come together with greater clarity.

敦RF2021-04-17Granted, INTPs still need some sort of identity and direction in life. Without an orienting direction, it is easy for them to feel lost, aimless, and useless. For this reason, developing a suitable career or vocation can seem of great importance to INTPs.

敦RF2021-04-17To some extent, this deeper level of knowing emerges from life experience. For instance, as INTPs develop their niche skills and interests, they become increasingly confident in their ability to consistently procure meaning by way of 'flow states." In such states, INTPs become deeply absorbed in their work and experience a sense of meaningful accomplishment. (例如,随着INTP发展他们理想的技能和兴趣,他们对自己通过“心流状态”始终如一地获得意义的能力变得越来越有信心。在这样的状态下,INTP会深深地投入到他们的工作中,并体验到一种有意义的成就感。)As they develop interests and methods that consistently induce flow, they naturally want to practice them more often. This generates a cycle of positive reinforcement, in which skills, interests, practice, and perceived meaning combine to produce more frequent and enduring flow experiences.

敦RF2021-04-17Second, INTPs need to stop listening to their dark emotions. As Thinking types, they must recognize that, outside of "fight or flight" emergencies, their emotions are rarely good compasses for navigating life. (作为思考型的人,他们必须认识到,除了“战或逃”的紧急情况外,他们的情绪很少是导航生活的好指南针。)This is because many of their emotions, whether positive or negative, stem from the hypersensitivity or childishness of their inferior Fe. So in many ways, an INTP listening to his emotions is akin to taking advice from a naive or angry child. If INTPs can avoid trusting and identifying with their dark emotions they will incur far less collateral damage and return to a healthier state of mind more quickly. In lieu of buying into their emotions, INTPs are better off gathering all the pertinent information (Ne) and enlisting their T...

敦RF2021-04-17In many instances, INTPs manage to contain their anger, dealing with its effects on an inward basis. In contending with their own inner beast, they may experience any number of dark thoughts or urges. These may range from suicidal thoughts, to intense feelings of hatred, to fantasies of criminal acts.(在许多情况下,INTP设法控制他们的愤怒,以内向的方式处理其影响。在与自己内心的野兽抗争时,他们可能会经历许多黑暗的想法或冲动。这些可能从自杀的想法,到强烈的仇恨情绪,再到对犯罪行为的幻想,不一而足。)Generally, such thoughts are rather short-lived, truncated by a diminishment of the emotion effective distractions, a return of Ti reasonability or some combination thereof. But if INTPs dwell in darkness for any sustained period of time, they may find themselves in serious trouble. Of all types, they are probably the least likely to seek outside help, putting them at greater risk for becom...

敦RF2021-04-17Transitioning to Phase III can be a “two steps forward, one step back” type of affair. As is true of other types, INTPs don’t skip over Phase II and move right into Phase III. Most will enjoy their fair share of pursuing, indulging, and promoting their Fe. Like other types, they need to dabble in “sin,” including experiencing some of its negative consequences, before they are willing to earnestly explore alternatives. They need to explore and gratify their ego before they can open themselves to the prospect of letting go of it.
-
敦RF2021-04-17……The changes of Phase III are primarily psychological, involving a gradual shift in attitude and approach.Phase III INTPs are typically less attached to their work in the sense that they are less concerned with the advancement or indulgence of their Fe ego. This allows them to enjoy their work for its intrinsic value, rather than obsessing over external "success.' They also come to value and understand truth (T) and meaning (F) as a holistic experience, a way of being, rather than merely in terms of abstract ideas or concepts.

[已注销]2020-05-11As if all this wasn’t enough, the effects of a hyperpolarized Fe is not limited to INTPs’ relationships, but can also infiltrate their career decisions. For instance, Fe may lure INTPs into characteristically Feeling-oriented careers, such as human services or helping professions. Unfortunately, it is rarely long before INTPs working in these fields instinctively realize their work is too heavy on Fe. This, of course, is essentially the same problem that occurs when they enter into relationships based on feelings alone.

[已注销]2020-05-11The Feeling function weighs and evaluates our affective responses to the world. Since it is rather unconscious and undifferentiated in Thinking types, Thinkers are often unaware of their own emotions and Feeling judgments. Feeling types, by contrast, are not only aware of their emotions in general, but are also attuned to emotional nuance and subtleties (just as Thinkers are more attuned to logical subtleties). Indeed, for every emotion in a Thinking type’s arsenal, a Feeler may distinguish numerous feelings or feeling tones. Because Feelers discern a greater breadth of emotional variations and nuances, they may feel that words are inadequate to capture and convey their experiences, prompting many to turn to poetry, music, and the arts as alternative forms of self-expression.
